There needs to be a working agreement between the coachee and the coach to collaborate before starting with coaching work.
Coaching can only be effective if the coachee shares details transparently. Unless the coach makes the coachee psychologically safe, the coachee will never begin to share details.
Both the coachee and the coach must start with what is expected to be done as part of the working agreement.
Coaching is ineffective if we don't converge on a problem. So, the coach and the coachee should work towards one specific challenge before exploring alternatives.
The coach should nurture the coachee to come up with a list of alternatives instead of prescribing solutions. Two optional steps in coaching at this stage involve converging on a solution and sharing of experiences.
